1: Depending on is a preposition meaning ” according to “. Vary is often followed by a preposition when referring to the meaning “different “.

2:(a) is obviously a verb which doesn’t work in the context, so we can eliminate (a) immediately.
As regards the rest of choices, let us consider the use of past participle adjectives vs. -ing adjectives.
There are two kinds of participial adjectives.
The -ing adjective describes the person or thing that causes the action or feeling.
The past participle adjective describes the person or thing receiving the action or feeling.
In the sentence , screen biographies are causing the feeling, so that's why the -ing adjective(unsatisfying) is required.

第2題是"情緒性動詞轉換成分詞"的判別，
爰此，"螢幕自傳"要接「引起感受、令人覺得」的ing形容詞，
而非「接受、感覺到」的pp形容詞。

第1題，
我尚有些困惑，意思是：
vary後須接介係詞，"Depending on "是介係詞片語，
而不能接"depend on"是因為它是"動詞"+意思會變成"依賴"而不同於"according to "嗎？
那...假設選項中有"depended on"，是因為depend本就有被動的意思、沒人這樣說嗎？
煩請高手解惑，謝謝！

第一題我覺得是動詞而不是prep.(depend on 應該是phrasal verb(片語動詞/動詞片語))
depend(動詞)轉為depending(Ving:有主動之意)引導whether子句修飾前頭的vary
題目的意思翻成中文為:鋼的硬度與滾水溫度會____人類性命是否遭受威脅而改變
答案中a和d的選項均為Ving(主動)
根據題意
選擇depending on (...依據)而非deciding on(....決定)

2)Because people often have illusions that we can see ourselves in the
biographies of famous people,screen biographies tend to be dramatically
______.
(a)satisfy (b) satisfied (c) unsatisfied (d) unsatisfying

第二題從情緒動詞的用法來判斷即使看不懂句子也能選出正確的答案
情緒動詞的p.p.當形容詞使用
用來修飾人
情緒動詞的Ving當形容詞使用
用來修飾物
所以答案裡頭只有D可以用來修飾物 -- screen biograhpies

我仍存在的疑惑，正如1樓所貼，為啥米...要加ing呢？
為何兩個動詞放一起，後面那個變分詞就可以呢？ (淚)

第2題的部份，
對大大所言略有不同想法，
情緒動詞的Ving當形容詞使用不只用來修飾物，
EX:
Ella is the best interesting girl that I've ever met.
如果死記那個規則，不太保險喔......
